Razeen Completes Design for New Engineering Laboratory at Vocational College in Saham
Saham, Al Batinah North, Oman — Razeen Engineering Consultancy is pleased to announce the completion of the design for a new Laboratory for Refrigeration, Air Conditioning and Electronics Engineering at the Vocational College in Saham, a project for the Ministry of Labour that is now progressing to the construction stage, with Razeen appointed to provide construction supervision services.
Located at Plot No. 539 in Saham, the development forms part of a 95,784-square-metre site and comprises a 1,490-square-metre G+1 Laboratory Building, together with associated parking, landscaping, and site development works.
A Purpose-Built Environment for Technical Learning
The new laboratory has been designed specifically around the needs of practical technical education and engineering training, providing students with a modern environment in which theoretical knowledge can be translated into hands-on experience.
The facility will accommodate a range of specialised spaces, including electrical, electronics, HVAC and refrigeration laboratories, as well as a training hall, IT laboratory, classroom, stores, staff offices, and supporting facilities.
By bringing these functions together within a purpose-designed facility, the project aims to provide students with an environment that encourages practical learning, experimentation, problem-solving, and the development of industry-relevant technical skills.
Designing for Practical Skills
The architectural approach focuses on functionality, flexibility, efficient planning, and durability, with the spaces carefully organised around the practical requirements of technical education.
The design considers the movement of students, staff, equipment, and materials to support safe and efficient day-to-day operation. The result is a contemporary learning environment designed to accommodate both classroom-based instruction and hands-on engineering training.
For Razeen, the project is an opportunity to demonstrate how thoughtful architectural and engineering design can directly support skills development and vocational learning.
From Design to Construction
With the design phase now complete, the project is moving into the construction stage. Razeen will continue its involvement by providing construction supervision, working closely with the Ministry of Labour, contractor, and project stakeholders to ensure that the approved design is delivered as intended.
Throughout construction, Razeen will monitor the works to help maintain the required technical standards, quality, specifications, and design intent, supporting the successful delivery of the facility through to completion.
Commenting on the project, Mr. Mohamed Sulaiman Al Yahmadi, Group Business Development Director, said:
“Technical and vocational education plays an important role in preparing young Omanis for the changing needs of the workplace. We are proud to contribute to this project because it is designed around practical learning and the development of skills that students can take directly into their professional careers. Our responsibility extends beyond designing the building; through our supervision role, we will continue working to ensure that the final facility delivers the quality and functionality envisioned from the beginning.”
He added:
“A successful training facility should make learning more engaging and practical. By creating purpose-built laboratories and training spaces, this project provides students with an environment where they can develop confidence through hands-on experience. We believe that this is where good design can make a real difference.”
Supporting Oman’s Future Technical Workforce
The project further strengthens Razeen’s growing portfolio of specialised vocational education and training facilities, reflecting its experience in developing environments tailored to the specific requirements of technical and professional education
.
Through its continued involvement from design through construction supervision, Razeen is proud to support the Ministry of Labour’s efforts to strengthen technical education, vocational training, and skills development across the Sultanate of Oman.
